The Dr. Paduru Gururaja Bhat Memorial Trust chose Dr. N Jayaram, professor of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, for the ‘Dr Paduru Gururaja Bhat Memorial Award–2011’.

The Award was conferred on Dr. N Jayaram during a function held in the banquet hall of Raj Bhavan, Bangalore, by Governor Dr Hansaraj Bharadwaj on February 11, 2012.

Dr. Jayaram is one of the leading sociologists in the country. He has 14 books to his credit and more than 200 articles published in professional journals of national and international repute. He is a member of a number of associations and committees at the national and international level, related to sociology. Dr Jayaram was the past director of the Institute of Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. He earned his PhD from Bangalore University and joined as a professor in the department of sociology.
